Trifecta

Dad says its a trifecta when you have three good things together... so this weekend was a trifecta. A fun saturday, a great sunday, and a tiring but exciting Monday!

We went on this mountain hike with John. It was really easy for the first half. More like a big joke. Why does anyone think hiking is hard. It was literally all downhill.

Our first stop for a drink and a photo.

I don't think I've told you, but I'm kinda afraid of heights... so when we were up pretty high, I was clinging to the rock with a white knuckled grip (tough to see since my paws are really gray and white). There wasn't too much water flowing, but some colors in the trees.

Really not much water, I guess the drought isn't helping. Although, I think I may have contributed to the flow....

Resting up after almost 3 miles and 1000 feet.. (that's well over 8000 paw marks each way)

I was really hungry... I was willing to try a leaf.

Well, Dad packed me a lunch and this is where I ate - Purina on the rocks, just the way I like it.

Well, the 8000 paw marks on the way back up... those were painful. I had just enough energy to make it back to the truck. Dedicated to my family and friends, I am, so I have published my journal and now make my way to the supercrate.

Houdini's cousin...

So Dad got me this big kennel, but it looks more like a prison cell. So the first thing I did was pull a Houdini.... if you look closely, you can see me vanish...

SoDad did put together my new crate... its like big enough for three of me, maybe four. I feel like I moved to Beverly Hills, except there is no silicon in my neighborhood.

We just got back from the Mastiff get together. It was pretty fun. I splashed around in the water and there were lots of super-sized dogs - Mastiffs and Danes.

Of course, I was quick to find Lourdes.

And where there is a Lourdes, there is a Larry! Notice, I'm getting some loving from a complete stranger. That is how the Shad rolls.

When I say goliath - I mean goliath... Check out my new buddy. I've hired him as my body guard.

Shouts out to Amy - the Mastiff organizer. She's a swell person. She was feeding the group bananas. If you're interested... Mastiff Group

Instant Rewind....

my life so far in 60 seconds.....

Lets recap.... 5 months ago, I was a little fuzz ball.

A total lump of sugar.

To sleeping mutt.....

To canine shredder!

I had to run away, Dad was upset. Oh, not in the picture was the frisbee (in above pic) that I put a chewing on.

To attention seeking, treat loving....

Everyone have a safe weekend!

G'Dane Pow-WoW

So... in the spirit of better communications, I'm putting up some pics from Dane organizer Linda and our g'dane get-ta-gether in Reston....

You can see all the big brothers I have. Hercules is the bigger blue dane in the picture below.

Jim (my fish monger) and his son John came by...

Everyone said I was the cutest pup - EVER! Of course, I had to show dad a trick with my leash.

Youz Lazy Bitches!

Dad says there are a bunch of whiners at the office. Something about me not posting and Dad ignoring me. Well, that just ain't the case. I've been recovering from my plastic surgery. Aunt Kim said I didn't look like a Great Dane because I didn't have the classic lump on my head, so now I've got an implant upstairs. Dad says its a radio tracking device as well. Cosmetic surgery ain't just for old folks, us Pups, we start Botox early.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I should get some more surgery... now that I've got a battle scar. My brother Puppy decided he didn't like me very much and put a chomping on me a few weeks ago. Some of the guys at the park made fun or me and called me Scarface! I think its a badge of honor.

Anyway, I'm 55lbs. And finally, Dad is getting me a bigger crate. I think I'm getting moved into the dungeon, because the new crate is too big for where I'm at now. We'll see. Maybe I'll get to paint the walls of my new room - add some color, because Dad has a terrible sense of taste!

I'm posting a couple of pics - these are fairly old (a month ago). The first one is me on our first fishing trip. It didn't last very long because Dad got his ass handed to him by a little bug.

So anyway, we gave up since Dad's finger became the size of my paw. We headed over to get some drugs, food, and drink.

Anyway, PJ and I got a couple of cooling dunks. Then we hooked up with "Shafe". He's got a big boat. I got to sleep on some big comfortable seats.

Aunt Kim came out and floated with Uncle James and PJ. Quite the bunch of lounge lizards!

Oh... the surgery... was a joke. I grew my own lump. The scar...all truth.

Boat lover != a water dog!

I'm sure that you're all wondering what I've been up to.... I just lounging around (like at Larry's place - to the left). Dad has signed us up for some Dane pow-wows....

The Reston Great Dane Meetup Group

Should be loads of fun. Dad says I might meet some family there.

I suppose Dad has mentioned that I'm growing fast- last check 38 pounds. I'm thinking of changing my name to Big Blue Ninja - as I can sneak up on folks at night and they don't see me coming! Big Blue Ninja with the drunken dog-fu style, a completely unbeatable combination. Of course, that is after I gain a few more pounds. Right now, I think everyone still thinks I'm a pushover.

Most of the time, I'm just laying around...waiting for something to do. I think everyone just thinks I'm a big teddy bear - something to be hugged.

I'm the Big Bad Blue Ninja, not some silly Ken or Barbie dolls!

So back to the fun stuff... I got to go zipping around on Dad's little boat this weekend. Me, PJ, Uncle James, and Dad. Of course, Uncle James and PJ almost drowned us.... I think they're both pretty fat.... but that's another story. Now, PJ, he's been watching too much Baywatch, because he wanted some red speedo's, but all Uncle had was this funny vest.....

So we hooked up with Wade and his family. I spent most of the time lounging on the deck. I did say I'm a boat lover and not a water dog, didn't I??

Oh, Wade's daughter named me "Buster".... Now the cooler talk can begin...ROFL.

Whose birthday??????

Not mine. So last weekend, I went to see some of Dad's friends and co-workers. Trin's son (see him holding a mini-me) turned five! So, anyway, there were two other canines trying to capture the affections of all the kids. But, I was the ONE. Who's the man!

I swore, I got to see my brother Smooches. But Dad swears that it wasn't Smooches and that I got to meet a cat. Take a look and let me know. I think we have the same colors, although, clearly I am the better looking one. We're in a class of our own, like the Baldwin or Wahlberg brothers.

If Dad is right, it went well, I think. Can't ever tell with felines, since they're so moody. But, no scratches on me :)

Shouts to Smooches!

Did I mention that I was the elected the playpal of the party?

Adults... eating out of my hand (well... I was trying to eat out of her hand, but who's counting)

Kids....

It was all great...............

until Dad decided that it was time to go.. I just didn't want to go. I was tired, but Dad doesn't normally let me have that much fun, so I was going to drag it out as long as possible......

Oh, Dad told me that Uncle James went to the hospital. I'm sorry, Uncle. I didn't mean to bite you so hard. If Dad had just called 911, you'd be A-OK. Paws are together praying for you!

Shouts to my peeps - PJ and Puppy. Look out for DJ.
